Shea Barakatt

LCSW, LCDC – Clinical Director

Shea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) who has worked in residential treatment for over 14 years. She earned both her bachelor’s in sociology and her master’s in clinical social work from the University of Oklahoma and joined the Origins family as Clinical Director of Origins Counseling Dallas in March 2020. Shea says that she loves helping counselors and interns learn to think outside the box creatively, expanding their knowledge to help patients and their families live the lives they deserve. She says it’s rewarding to watch patients improve and flourish as they obtain the necessary tools to create a life of sobriety with balanced and improved health. Her hobbies include spending time with her very active and sports-centered family and traveling.


Alison Watros

Executive Director

Alison is the Executive Director of Origins Counseling. She oversees daily operations, markets the program, and builds and maintains relationships with substance use disorder providers. She has a passion for helping people sustain long term recovery from the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction. Alison has presented on topics of substance use prevention and treatment, social norms, drug endangered children, drug trends, and recovery to thousands both nationally and locally.

Dr. John Dyben

DHSc, MCAP, CMHP – Chief Clinical Officer

In his role as Chief Clinical Officer, John provides supervisory and clinical oversight to all of Origins Behavioral HealthCare’s programs. John continually builds upon his academic expertise through research and nationwide speaking engagements on addiction, spirituality, and related topics.

John’s academic training includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Conflict Management, a Master of Science in Management, a Doctor of Health Science, and postgraduate studies in psychology, philosophy, and religion. John is a Master Certified Addictions Professional and a Certified Mental Health Professional in the State of Florida. He is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Substance Abuse Professional meeting all Federal DOT qualifications. John is a musician, writer, and a private pilot, and he enjoys spending time with his family.


Jared Fuson

MA, LPC-S – Chief Operating Officer

Jared uses his passion and skills to cultivate healthy teams and leaders through effective organizational development strategies focused on aligning employees’ experience with Origins’ objectives, mission, and culture. Jared believes that people are the secret ingredient in the Origins’ ability to deliver the promise of a clear path to healing and freedom to both the addicted population and their loved ones. As such, Origins’ commitment to its employees and their individual and collective development, growth, and impact is a top strategic priority.
Before joining Origins, Jared was the vice president of people and talent at a rapidly growing retailer, a clinical director of sober transitional living, and a licensed professional counselor in private practice. A husband and a father of three, he is active in his pastoral church community and provides part-time counseling and coaching services.

Joellen Walter

LPC – Primary Counselor

Joellen Walter is from Addison, Texas. She joined our Origins Counseling-Dallas team in June 2020. She earned her bachelor’s in political science with a minor in American studies from Beloit College and her master’s in community counseling from Argosy University. Before joining Origins, her professional experience included working in private practice with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, identity, and balance in their everyday living and conducting pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Joellen worked as a certified personal trainer for 15 years and has a deep understanding of the relationship between body, mind, and spirit. She’s trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is a corrective exercise specialist, a performance enhancement specialist, and a nutrition coach. Joellen also has a small private practice outside of work specializing in behavioral health, life skills, anxiety, and depression. Sober for over 20 years, she de-stresses and maintains her life balance by collecting vintage signs and browsing antiques, and spending time with her two beloved cats.

Ryan Rodriguez

LPCA – Primary Counselor

Ryan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Jared Fuson, LPC-S. Previously a teacher, college professor, and lawyer, Ryan is highly skilled in listening to the needs of others and working proactively with them to achieve desired results.

Ryan has experience working with all ages in the treatment of depression, anxiety, emotional and sexual trauma, and addiction. She believes that any constellation of difficult circumstances can be transformed into a joyful, meaningful life. Her holistic approach focuses on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health as a single system. Ryan spends her free time painting, reading, and spending time with her family.
